5th February 2016, a contingent of KDF soldiers and Kenya Police has scale-up security operations along Kenya-Somalia border and areas near Boni Forest.
According to Kenya Defence Forces spokesman David Obonyo major security operation is on-going to flush out Al-Shabaab militants.
In past one week, Al-Shabaab militant hiding in Boni forest have conducted raids in certain areas according to information given by public and even lecturing the locals in villages in Lamu County.
Col Obonyo has lauded the cooperation between security forces and locals in helping with human intelligence vital in the fight against terrorism.
SECURITY OPERATIONS
KDF and police operations are making headway and in the beginning of the week, four suspected Al-Shabaab militants were killed in the forest.
Military sources also confirmed another two terrorists escaped with gun wounds notifying public, doctors and nurses to report any person seeking treatment for bullet wounds.
On Monday 1st February 2016, the encounter between KDF officers and the militants, weapons and a police vehicle stolen by terrorists at Milihoi Village on December 16 was recovered.
Meanwhile, residents of Kaisari and Nyatha villages where three people were killed by suspected Al-Shabaab militants on Sunday have been asked to remain vigilant and report any suspicious characters to the nearest security outpost while security will be heightened in the affected villages.
