The Taliban militant group suffered a huge blow after Afghan defense operations killed 70 of the group’s fighters in Kandahar and Laghman provinces of Aghanistan.
According to the Afghan Ministry of Defense (MoD) heavy attacks by Taliban fighters on Zherai and Dand districts of Kandahar province were successfully repulsed.
Heavily armed Taliban fighters attacked Afghan Army checkpoints in the Waziran area of Zherai district and Dand district of Kandahar province but were with fierce gun fire.
At least 40 Taliban fighters were killed and 38 others were wounded in the Kandahar clashes.
In another defense operations in Dawlat Shah District in a skirmish Taliban fighter suffered heavy casualties with at least 30 Taliban fighters reported killed and 17 others wounded in a clash between the Afghan security forces and Taliban insurgents in the region. Local media reports indicate that, the Head of Taliban’s intelligence for Dawlat Shah District of Laghman and one of their commanders are also among the dead. Following the fierce battle, large cache of weapons and ammunition were destroyed by the Afghan security forces.
