Hundreds of youths from Kenya’s North Eastern Province have joined the Al Qaeda branch in Somalia.
Human rights activists, pro-terror group journalists, and parents who don’t want to disclose the whereabouts of their children are alleging the young men and women were taken away by the Government of the Republic of Kenya.
Harakat Al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen Movement, al-Qaeda’s branch in Somalia recruited these youths into terrorism.
Many of these youths are carrying out terrorist attacks in the NEP stretch. Many are being killed during counter terrorism operations along the border.
“There is no excuse in joining terrorists movement. If you shoot at a military officer or a military convoy, you are a criminal” Regional Army intelligence analysts argue.
Parents bear the greatest responsibility. They must train their youths in trades that’ll make industrious youths not terrorists and militants.

Some have been surrendering while many have refused to take up the opportunity of amnesty by the Government of Kenya and come back home.
Journalists, parents, and human rights crusaders should tread carefully when addressing and publishing content about terrorism. Their sympathy towards terrorists who commit crimes against humanity maybe innocent however, it shouldn’t perpetrate terrorism whatsoever. If so, they should bear the greatest responsibility.
