At least six members of the Islamic State Central Africa Province (ISCAP) were killed and four weapons were recovered after the Congolese military launched an attack on their location in Mambasa Territory in Ituri province. The assault took place east of the village of Biakato and was instigated by the military in a bid to flush the militants that had been terrorizing the populace.
According to Captain Anthony Mualushayi, spokesperson for Sokola 1 operations; the militants were overwhelmed by the military and are believed to have fled to the Kataliko quarry. One militant was also captured and s being interrogated with the hopes of offering insight into the recent activities of the terror organization.
This FARDC reaction comes after deadly attacks recorded on the border between the provinces of North Kivu and Ituri which have killed at least 30 people. Intelligence indicated that the weeklong attacks were in line with a rumored migration of fighters.
