Islamic State Central Africa Province (ISCAP) attacked Congolese military base in Bahatsha, 4 km from Mwenda in the Beni territory, where they ran over the base and seized weapons and ammo from the attack. The militants have been stepping up attacks in North Kivu Province and neighboring Ituri. At least three soldiers and two combatants were killed in the attack and several others injured.
The recurrence of attacks on military bases especially in Beni is characteristic of an expanding terror organization that needs weapons and other supplies to furnish and facilitate future attacks. ISIS claimed the attack citing that the fighters had killed at least fifteen soldiers with the results yet to be substantiated claims. ISIS tends to exaggerate the death tolls in a bid to up their propaganda and reach of the militants in their various provinces and most recently in Sub-Sahara Africa.
