4 most wanted al Shabaab terrorists in Malindi near the airport were shot dead by the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit.
Kenya’s ATPU on Wednesday 0230hrs raided the house of most wanted terrorist in Kwachocha Malindi killing 4 terrorist and recovering an assortment of weapons.
Among the killed terrorists were Issah Ali and Suleiman Awadh who has a KSH 2million bounty on his head and was linked to the deadly Garissa University Massacre.
The raid was conducted following a public tipoff that referenced a mug shot of the terrorist circulated in the media. The suspects hurled a grenade that led to a gunfight that saw 4 of them killed at 3 others escaping with severe injuries.
5 hand grenades, Beretta pistol, cartilages, phones and SIM cards, and identity cards, Quran, Newspaper clippings highlighting al Shabaab’s conquest.
The ATPU also recovered maps that showed various areas in Malindi that were attack targets and another that connected Malinda and Boni Forest as an escape route. The al Shabaab terrorists have been known to use Boni Forest as an escape route into Somalia after conducting atrocious attacks along the Kenyan coast.
The ATPU are also investigating to establish the identity of their financier only initialized as AG in a letter that requested food, clothes to disguise themselves and more operational cash for their ‘mission’.
The police are currently mopping up the area in pursuit of the other three injured terrorists who are said to have made away with an AK47 Riffle.
