Sadiq was found guilty of belonging to the Al-Shabaab assassination unit and for killing an ex-policeman named Mohamud Hassan Ibrahim in March 2019. Shuheb was found guilty of killing three soldiers and a civilian in Mogadishu.
Al Shabaab has continuously used assassination as a mode of attack especially against security personnel in the country’s capital Mogadishu. The terrorists use shooters embedded within the civilian populace and conduct the targeted killing and more often than not they strip the soldiers of their weapons and uniform used later by the terrorists to infiltrate other targets.
