Police in Kenya killed 2 Al-Shabaab terrorists during a botched terror attack on power station in Mandera, north Eastern Kenya.
Security officials confirmed that over 30 militants using grenades and rifles staged an attack on a Kenyan power station but police thwarted the attack.
Two militants were killed and weapons recovered including grenades, rifles, and bullets.
Analysis on such attacks on high priority target attacks
Al-Shabaab may have changed their strategy to inflict more damaging blows to the Kenyan economy.
Targeting power generation plants is the first indicator that they have re-thinked their strategy.
Police Reports
According to Mandera County Police Commander Noah Mwavanda, over 30 militants attacked a Kenya Power plant using grenades but police countered the attack effectively, killing two militants.
Most of the militants who fled were badly injured and some are likely to succumb to the injuries.
The gang was planning to destroy the power station that supplies power through powerful generators.
Kenya police service has so far added more security in the area in preparedness.
