At least three people were shot dead by militants belonging to the Islamic State Central Africa (ISCAP) in an ambush in the village of Ratsangwele, 4 kilometers from Loselose, in the Ruwenzori sector, Beni. All the victims were on a motorcycle and were leaving the neighboring locality of Nzenga to go to their fields.
Intelligence indicates that the militants were crossing from one location to another when they bumped into the victims shooting them at close range. The military, which has been doing patrols in the region pursued the perpetrators but they managed to escape.
This is the first massacre in the region after more than three weeks of calm which is due to the state of siege in the region as well as increased military activity by the UN peacekeepers.
