At least twenty-seven ISCAP terrorists were killed and eight Congolese soldiers gravely injured following clearing operations in Ituri province. During the operation, the army retrieved bombs and other ammunition, while conquering three strongholds of IS terrorists.
According to, Lieutenant Jules Ngongo, spokesman for the army in this eastern province of the Democratic Republic of Congo, fighting occurred during the operation by the government army against the rebels in the villages of Zunguluka, Kasoko, and Manzobe, south of Komanda in the chiefdom of Walese-Vonkutu.
The military operations come as the government adopted the bill extending the state of siege in the provinces of Ituri and North Kivu. This new extension is for 15 days starting on April 5, 2022. While the extension has been extended to allow for the consolidation of CT operations with Uganda the citizens continue to lose faith in the effectiveness of the siege. Confidence in the ability of the siege and military operations to eradicate the rebel groups and ISCAP has fallen and is projected to fall further seeing as the terror group has been conducting more brutal attacks especially since the UPDF incursion began.
