2 Apache helicopters were used on Libyan forces early Saturday, British military officials and airforce chiefs have confirmed.
The Apache attack helicopter gunship successfully launched strategic fires on targets, especially soldiers and snipers holding strategic positions.
The outcome of the attacks has not been confirmed on the ground though mission command confirmed success.
The helicopters did precision strikes against a radar installation and a military checkpoint, in Brega using their Hellfire missiles and 30mm cannons.
Gazelle gunship helicopters from French air force elite forces also went in for an attack in Libya. The French Gazelle Attack helicopters attacked Libyan forces positions.
Libyan forces fired light weapons at the two Apache helicopters but no major damage was inflicted on the British fighter helicopters.
