Eighteen (18) people have been killed after an Ethiopian military helicopter crashed in the country’s Oromia region, Ethiopian state media has reported.
According to the state affiliated Fana Broadcasting Corporate, crashed on Thursday 30th August 2018 morning, killing all 18 people on board, including two children. Out of those who perished in the crash 15 were military personnel and three civilians.
Reports from Ethiopian Defense sources indicate that the military helicopter was traveling from the eastern city of Dire Dawa to an air base in Bishoftu town southeast of the capital Addis Ababa.
According to Ethiopian Defense Ministry indoctrination and PR division bureau, the flight No. 808 helicopter was on duty during the accident and crashed 20 minutes away from its destination in Bishoftu.
The Ethiopian Air Force said that the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
