The Al-Qaeda branch in Somalia Harakat Al-Shabaab Mujahideen Movement (HSM) clashed with Somali National Army SNA) troops in Afgoye town, Lower Shabelle region of Somalia, approximately 30 kilometers west of Mogadishu.
Initial military intelligence report indicates that, Al-Shabaab fighters stormed a SNA- Forward Operating Base (FOB) in the general area of Afgoye town at midnight.
Gun fight ensued with casualties being reported from both sides. Initial BDA indicate that at least three (3) government soldiers were killed and six (6) others wounded.
Al-Shabaab who thrive on propaganda, through their online media platforms claimed to have killed several government soldiers, that they also destroyed military vehicles and taking away their ammunition.
