At least 150 Taliban and ISIS terrorists surrendered to the Afghan government in eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan.
According to the Kunar Governor’s Office in a statement, a group of 110 Taliban militants and 40 ISIS militants led by Qazi Mawlavi Basir renounced violence, handed over their weapons and surrendered to the government on Wednesday 4th August 2019.
The statement further added that the deputy governor of Kunar, security officials and tribal elders welcomed the terrorists and called the latest reconciliation process in which 150 terror fighters renounced violence, a major achievement.
Deputy governor of Kunar Gul Mohamamd Bidar said the terrorists were previously conducting insurgency in Chapa Dara, Manogi, Watapur and Suki districts.
The terrorists renounced violence after and handed over 150 light and heavy weapons which were in their custody.
Authorities lauded the security institutions for encouraging the fighters to renounce violence a move that will further help in expanding security in Kunar province.
