At least fifteen members of the Maute group, Islamic State of Lanao, have surrendered to authorities.
Commander of the Joint Task Group Ranao counter-terrorism unit, Co.Romea Brawner, confirmed the surrender of the militants.
The Maute group led a 5 month siege in Marawi, Phillipines, which left over 1,000 people killed.
Earlier this month, 27 Maute extremists were presented to President Rodrigo Duterte during his visit to Marawi.
The outlawed Maute group is also known as the Islamic State of Lanao composed by Moro Islamic Liberation Front guerrillas and foreign fighters led by Abdullah Maute.
