Niger’s army reportedly has killed 12 terrorists allied to the Nigerian-based Boko Haram terrorists group in a fierce gun fight with Takfiris in a border area.
The encounter happened in the southeastern region of Bosso near the border with Nigeria where the militant terrorist group has been wreaking havoc for the past seven years.
12 Boko Haram terrorists now affiliated to the Middle East-based Islamic State were killed and scores were wounded. The militants were repelled in a fight that lasted about 15hours according to a statement read by Nigerian army spokesman Colonel Moustapha Ledru said on Saturday.
The army troops also seized assortment of weapons including a number of machine guns, rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launchers and cell phones from the terrorists.
