Several Al-Shabaab terrorists were on Sunday killed in a heavy clash between the militants and Somali National Army at a military base near Hudur town, 372 kilometers southwest of capital city, Mogadishu.
Confirming the clashes, Hudur’s deputy district commissioner, Abdulle Hassan told media present that Al-Shabaab fighters attempted to forcefully breach into SNA base near Hudur town in Bakool region. SNA overpowered them killing several of them, as others were repelled.
SNA backed by AMISOM troops continue to carry out security operations in several localities targeting Al-Shabaab militants.
A key joint operation in Yab-yab village saw over dozen militants killed and several others arrested for questioning. Assortment of weapons also seized in the operation.
Hudur is an important town hosting the administrative headquarters of Bakool region in Somalia.
