At least 12 Al Shabaab fighters were on Tuesday 25th August 2015 killed by Somali government forces when they clashed in a village near Garbaherey town in Gedo region, southern Somalia.
According to Abdullahi Osman, a Somali government forces commander in Gedo region while addressing journalist reported on how the government forces launched a heavy operation on the village of Tula Barwako.
The government forces killed 12 Al Shabaab militants in a fierce combats and also seized weapons from them. A government soldier was injured during the raid but the forces managed to fight the militants and took control of the village.
