Somali forces killed 11 Al-Shabaab terrorists and wounded 15 others in Jowhar town, Middle Shabelle region of Somalia.
According to Salah Ya’qub, commander of Somali forces in charge of 27th division, a fierce intense clash flared up in Shimbirow village in Jowhar town after heavily armed Al-Shabaab fighters launched an attack with mortar shells on a base used by government forces.
The government forces managed to kill 11 fighters and injured 15 others besides retaining control of the military base.
Jowhar is the capital city of Hirshabelle state of Somalia and the administrative capital of Middle Shabelle region of Somalia.
The Al-Qaeda aligned terrorists have intensified their attacks on the government army bases in Middle and Lower Shabelle regions. From last week, they have staged attacks on about five Somali army bases.
