The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) paraded several ISCAP militants arrested in various operations in North Kivu and Ituri Province. The terrorists arrested include one of the wives of Amigo Kibirige, number two in this terrorist movement. Kibirige is under the United States and United Nations sanctions and has been instrumental to the movement.
According to military sources, the wife was arrested alongside her baby and bodyguard who is the son of Kibirige in Kasindi, on the border with Uganda where she has been on leave for at least two months. Intelligence indicates that the two have been traveling together for a while with the son protecting the mother and young baby.
Additionally, 14 of those arrested 6 were foreigners from Tanzania and Uganda and were majorly arrested from operation in the valley of Mwalika where the organization is believed to have major bases. The military has urged vigilance among the citizens siting that the recent attacks in the Rwenzori sector are in retaliation to the arrests of the high-profile targets.
