December 7, 2015 government troops and rebels in Sudan’s war-struck border regions are gearing themselves to go to war after peace talks in Addis Ababa fell apart failing to reach a deal.
The talks mediated by the African Union ended last month without even a temporary ceasefire in Darfur which has been marred by conflict since 2003 as well as south Kordofan and Blue Nile states since 2011.
Each side has vowed to protect themselves and their interests alike no matter the cost taking advantage of the impassability of the roads due to heavy rain.
Sudanese troops have asserted the readiness of her highly motivated troops in the readiness for war in Darfur, Blue Nile and Kordofan states.
Two delegations each representing the rebels held concurrent talks in Addis Ababa which didn’t yield any results as both sides violated the ceasefire call by Sudanese President Omar Bashir raising fears of a more violent war in Sudan when the torrential rains cease.
The Sudanese Armed Forces will try to contain the SPLM-N as far as possible just like the situation in Darfur, where Darfuri rebels only have pockets in insignificant Jebel Marra that don’t threaten anything (sic).
