Venezuela’s former chief of the intellige
nce services has been killed in circumstances that confirm an assassination.
Eliezer Otaiza was found dead and his body dumped in a neighborhood in a Caracas neighborhood.
Mr Eliezer Otaiza was the director of Venezuela’s National Intelligence Services during the Hugo Chavez era.
He was found dead on Saturday. The ex-spy chief was serving as a leader of one of Caracas municipalities.
The ex spy chief Eliezer Otaiza had four gunshot wounds and his clothes had no documents or identification.
The objective of such a killing is to ensure that the body decomposes without any trace of identity available.
This helps delay any tangible investigation besides kill any links to identifying the dead person.
It was an assassination by people he worked with. The killing has the insignia of the intelligence community, argues an analyst at Strategic Intelligence.
Eliezer Otaiza graduated in a military academy in Caracas in 1992 and was one of the leaders of the coup led by lieutenant colonel Hugo Chavez.
Lieutenant colonel Hugo Chavez became the president of Venezuela and ruled until he died recently of a cancer related ailment.
