The US has announced the sale of $593 million worth of war aircrafts to Nigeria to aid in their way against ISIs-affiliated Boko Haram. The Pentagon said that they would be selling 12 Super Tucano A-29, which are ground attack aircraft, agile propeller-driven plane with reconnaissance and surveillance as well as attack capabilities to Nigeria.
The announcement is I line with an agreement made with Nigeria in April of this year as a support plan by the US government to help the African country tackle the insurgents in the North-Eastern part of the country.
The sale of the Super Tucano A-29 comes as a welcomed boost to the Nigerian military which has been battling Boko Haram in the past few years. The US reaffirmed its commitment to collaborate with Nigeria as part of its global campaign against the Islamic State.
