The United States Department spokeswoman Mary Harff on Monday made an announcement that U.S nationals in Yemen will have to leave the war infested country by sea due to the closure of several airports in Yemen.
The raging conflict in Yemen has killed almost everything which Yemen could boast of a few years ago.
In her announcement, it was however not clear the number of Americans still stranded in Yemen but from statistics, there were several civilians who are currently calling on the U.S. government to help them.
This comes at a time when the remaining civilians in Yemen continue to suffer since the beginning of the conflict between forces backing the government and the Houthi rebels who now control major parts of the country.
Humanitarian aid has also become a problem as no planes are able to land close to the victims due to the indefinite closure of the airlines.
Marie Harf has however assured American civilians stuck in Yemen of contacting them on chances to board docking ships. For the meantime, the civilians have been urged to take shelter in secure locations.
In the midst of the ongoing war, the U.S. has been accused of abandoning dual nationals as from March 2015 and is currently working on closure of its embassy in Yemen.
