United States Army Special Forces conducted an airstrike and ground operations targeting the Al-Qaeda branch in Somalia, Harakat Al-Shabaab Mujahideen (HSM) movement military operations commanders in their makeshift encampments in Taratorow area of Lower Shabelle region of Somalia.
A Drones fired 2 missiles that destroyed the militants encampment and the special forces moved in.
US Commandos and Somali Army Special Forces conducted a ground attack against the same target shortly after the airstrike damage assessment. The 1-hr long special forces operation was successful.
Three (yet to be identified) top military operations commanders (generals) were killed and the encampment bombed.
Dozens of the Al-Qaeda branch in Somalia, Harakat Al-Shabaab Mujahideen (HSM) movement fighters were killed in the multipronged operation.
Taratorow is Al-Shabaab’s targeting center hence a target of both AMISOM and the US-Army CT Ops. Most attacks against AMISOM and SNA troops are planned from the area.
