U.S. in support of the Federal Government of Somalia conducted another airstrike on February 28 targeting an Al-Shabaab meeting in the vicinity of Hiran killing 26 fighters. This strike comes days after U.S. killed 55 fighters in two air raids.
U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) in a press release confirmed of the air assault against the Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab saying the intensified air campaigns are aimed at disrupting the group’s capability to plan attacks, dismantling their networks, besides crippling their recruiting efforts in regions of Somalia.
So far, (2019); U.S. has conducted more than 20 airstrikes targeting extremist’s groups in Somalia.
