A suspected US drone strike has reportedly carried out airstrikes against al Shabaab training camp located near Harardhere town, Mudug region in central Somalia. According to HUMINT, five missiles struck tan al Shabaab training camp in Adaley, a remote village in central Somalia’s Mudug region.
While casualty assessment report has not been released, preliminary reports indicate that over a dozen al Shabaab fighters were killed in the strike, as well as weapons and vehicle destroyed. In October, a US airstrike near Harardhere, Somalia killed some 60 al Qaeda-affiliated fighters.
US military carried out such strike against Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab and Islamic State groups in the war-ravaged nation in support with the government of Somalia. In the past few months, the number of airstrikes by the US military have spiked to a record high with their precision airstrike killing over a hundred al Shabaab militants. In 2018 alone, the US has conducted near 30 airstrikes that have killed over 100 al Shabaab terrorists in various parts of Somalia.
