UPDF troops group 22 which has been serving under African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) have been awarded for good work in Somalia.
The contingent commanded by Colonel Bernand Tuhame was awarded medals of honor for exemplary service in the fight against Al-Shabaab.
Troops 22 recently completed their tour of duty and were honored in a ceremony held in Somalia capital Mogadishu.
Present during the award ceremony included Uganda’s Contingent Commander Brigadier Kayanja Muhanga and the Deputy Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission Simon Mulongo.
The two applauded the team 22 for performing well and sacrificing themselves to protect humanity and neutralizing Al-Shabaab terrorists amidst several challenges.
Uganda which has been in the country for ten years is the largest troop contributing country to the African Mission in Somalia.
