A plane belonging to the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) on Tuesday, 28th January 2020, afternoon has been confirmed killing the two crew members.
The jet ranger AF 302 while on training mission crashed killing the two crew members, UPDF spokesperson Brigadier Richard Karemire has confirmed.
Though the cause of the crash has not been ascertained, the incident has been confirmed to have happened at Ndeese hill in Butambala, Gomba district.
Brig. Karemire through a tweet confirmed of the jet ranger crash and offered condolences to the family members of the crew and the entire UPDF fraternity. He has noted that investigation into the cause of the crash has commenced.
Among the dead is Major Naomi Karungi, an elite female pilot and an alumni of the Soroti Flying Academy.

The jet ranger belonged to Uganda Air Force, a service arm of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces, formed on 18th January 1965.
Uganda Air Force is tasked with defending Uganda’s Airspace and supporting own land force besides destroying strategic enemy positions and providing VIP transport services.
Other tasks are not limited to peace support missions and offering relief services in the event of natural disasters.
