
UN Security Council concluded Somalia’s visit whereby they stressed on UNSC commitment in rebuilding Somali’s National Army (SNA).UNSC visited Somalia in support of the upcoming elections and to ensure the process will succeed despite Islamic extremist’s threat.
Addressing reporters in Somali’s capital Mogadishu after meeting with Somali leaders, UNSC delegation urged the officials concerned to proceed with the timetable for elections scheduled for August despite parliament delay to approve it.
Matthew Rycroft, the UK ambassador to the U.N. touched on the need to support and rebuild a credible national army.
The horn of Africa nation is currently facing deadly militancy by Al-Shabaab terrorists opposing the weak backed Western-backed government that is depending on African Union peacekeepers to fight and eliminate the extremists.
