Uganda the God Father of East Africa Saved Thousands of Southern Sudanese from a Massacre.
Ugandan soldiers deployed in Southern Sudan saved thousands of lives in Bentiu as UN peacekeepers did little to save them.
The Bentiu massacre was stopped by UPDF. They stopped the rebels, secured the UNMISS compound and gave orders to the commanders there.
UPDF ordered the UNMISS commander to promptly inform them of any rebel activity near the compound.
Uganda also made it clear that it would hence forth secure the compound from attacks.
The UPDF also sent a warning to the Riek Marchar rebels, that if they attacked any position held by the UPDF troops, the consequences would be grave and utterly regrettable.
These threats have been made real. UPDF has made several aerial attacks on rebel positions. They have destroyed their bases and resources.
As Kenya and IGAD make diplomatic noise about helping Southern Sudan, Uganda is doing it practically.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is a man of his word. He deployed troops to Uganda’s neighbour and has even stopped rebels from killing thousands of civilians.
Contrary to UN reports that UNMISS troops stopped the Riek Marchar rebels from the ethnic bloodbath, it was the Ugandan defence forces that stopped the rebels.
Uganda has even deployed its air force. They have bombed rebel positions sending a strong signal that they will not sit and watch.
