Tuesday 7/3/2017, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres arrived in Mogadishu Somalia where he is expected bolster relief efforts.
Guterres arrived in Mogadishu from Nairobi and was received by Foreign Affairs Minister Abdusalam Omer in Mogadishu.
Guterres termed the situation in Somalia as dire and thus need to focus on the famine and cholera outbreak ravaging the country.
On his Twitter account, Guterres announced on his arrival in Somalia on his emergency visit. The UN Chief called on international community to act saying People are dying of worst drought in years.
Guterres is expected to meet the Somalia President and Prime Minister to discuss the way forward.
The counry is also grappling with Al-Shabaab insurgents making humanitarian services more harder in their areas of control.
