Intelligence reports confirm that Uganda is getting unusually too much training from both US and British military experts with the latest trainng being carried out by U.S. Marine Forces Africa (MARFORAF).
Strategic Intelligence confirmed that a small team of US Marines from the Armed Forces with U.S. Marine Forces Africa (MARFORAF) arrived in Kampala, Uganda in March 2012.
The mission of the visit was to train soldiers of the (UPDF) in counter-terrorism combat engineering.
In intelligence and military studies Counter-terrorism combat engineering involves mobility assurance, road breaching, defense and fortifications, counter-mobility of enemy forces, construction and destruction under fire, sabotage, explosives, bomb disposal, counter-NBC and special engineering missions.
When trained the engineering unit is also added a unit of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) experts.
UPDF failures in Somalia against Al-Shabaab might have prompted these rapid training sessions.
