Uganda’s Deputy Chief of Defense Forces and Inspector General of Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) Lt Gen. Charles Angina visited and inspected troops, key installations and grounds of tactical importance to the Ugandan troops serving under AMISOM forces in Somalia.
The visit was also aimed to provide a package of ideological messages for enhancement of discipline and morale for overall improvement of performance by Ugandan troops fighting in Somalia. This is aimed to achieve overall results for the AMISOM and Somali National army fighting Al Shabaab.
There is need for regional governments contributing to forces in Somalia to provide moral support to their fighters to realize commitment towards war on Al Shabaab. The move by Uganda government to support its troops is welcome as an encouraging move.
Also of importance is for governments to do necessary installations to facilitate strategic advantage of troops over Al Shabaab. The western aid should only come as back up to regional efforts.
