Event:
- U.S. Special Forces Commandos conducts an operation overnight in the Syria raid killing a Senior Islamic State leader and in turn capturing the official’s wife.
- The Special Forces Commandos drawn from the Delta Forces troops were aboard the Black Hawk helicopters and V-22 Ospreys.
- The Commandos immediately started flying from the helicopters they were met with fierce fire from the militant forces near al-Amr eastern Syria.
- The Special Forces Commandos recovered cellphones, laptops, files, archaeological artifacts, antique coins, Assyrian Bible among other historic items.
Early Saturday, U.S. Special Forces Commandos drawn from Delta Forces troops conducted an operation that seen a senior ISIS leader killed and his wife being captured for further interrogation.
The operation that began early was also met will fierce resistant from the militant forces who engaged the Commandos with fire as the touched down in al-Amr location. The location is in the Eastern part of Syrian, a location that is rich in oil fields.
This is a strategic location that Islamic state has captured and it is their major source income as they engage with black market fuel sales.
Well Coordinated Operation
The U.S. Defense official described the operation against the militant a fierce close combatant. It was an easy operation as the ISIS forces were women and children to shield themselves. Dozen of the militant forces were killed but the main target of the operation was deigned to finish the ISIS senior official now identified as Abu Sayyaf; a Tunisian national.
His was identified as Umm Sayyaf was captured and flown by bullet riddled U.S. aircraft at dawn in Iraq. According to Aston Carter, the Defense Secretary, no U.S. suffered from this operation as well no civilians were reported to be injured.

Operation Analysis and Assessment
The operation saw countless Yazidis being rescued who have been enslaved and executed by the militant Islamic State. This U.S. special operation was crucial and the second of a kind in Syria after several unsuccessful missions last summer where they were unable to rescue American hostages who were later executed by the militants.
President Obama has said that U.S. will continue with their offensive until they loot the militants in Syrian and neighbouring Iraq. The operation comes when the Islamic State have continued their assault in Iraq tightening their grip on city of Ramadi, a significant city in Iraq. U.S. backed troops are in Iraq engaging in rigorous training and helping the Iraq forces secure the captured locations.
The operation that has lead to the killing of Abu Sayyaf and capturing of his wife was a success as he was a key leader with a fairly high rank in Islamic State hierarchy. This official was in control of the oil and gas business in Syria, he involved the militant military operations on his incursions that saw dozens executed and their homes torched. The official was likely in contact with Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi according to White House.
U.S. led airstrikes in Syria have target the gas and oil refineries, storage sites. Their destruction has significantly reduced Islamic States revenue sources.
The building which Abu Sayyaf was staying had been on surveillance for a couple of weeks before the raid. President Obama authorized the operation with full backing and consent of the Iraq authorities. Recovered cellphones, laptops will be used to obtain information on Islamic State possible hostages under the militants. Abu Sayyaf’s wife Umm Sayyaf was also to be debriefed to collect intelligence about the ISIS operations and also to determine any information she may have regarding American hostages held by the militant group.
