Pentagon on Monday confirmed a U.S.-led coalition airstrike killed a high value military leader if the Islamic State (IS) in Iraq.
According to Pentagon source, a coalition airstrike targeted Abu Waheeb, ISIL's military emir for Anbar Province.
Waheeb a former leader of the Al Qaeda terrorist group in Iraqi has appeared in the ISIL beheading videos.
Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook confirmed the Monday air raids were successful adding that three Islamic State fighters were killed.
Iraqi forces backed by popular allied forces have been fighting Islamic State militants to regain control of key cities and towns in Anbar, Iraq's largest province.
