U.S forces in joint military operation with Somali National Army troops (SNA) raided an Al-Shabaab-run detention near Balad town, about 31 kilometers of Somalia capital, Mogadishu.
The joint intelligence-led assault on Al-Shabaab extremist saw the militant group lose two fighters and several others fleeing with gun wounds sustained in close battle quarters CBQ).
Military intelligence report indicates that Al-Shabaab was holding several Somali youths who they had abducted from across the regions, but rebuffed to join their unworthy cause. A number of foreign fighters were also reported to have been held in this detention on claims of spying for Somali government forces and AMISOM.
Several captured in the facility and are scheduled to undergo thorough interrogation before the next cause of action is taken.
There was no immediate comment from the Al-Qaeda linked extremist group.
