At least six (6) Al-Shabaab militants were on Sunday6th January 2019 killed in a second U.S. airstrike conducted in the vicinity of Dheerow Sanle in Lower Shabelle about 150 km southwest of the capital Mogadishu, Somalia.
According to a press release by U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), the air raid was conducted to stem down Al-Shabaab’s freedom of movement and to increase pressure on the terrorist network in the area.
The statement confirmed that 6 terror militants were killed and no civilians were killed or injured in the airstrike.
U.S. through AFRICOM director, Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Gregg P. Olson affirmed that it will continue to work with other partners in Somalia; AMISOM and Somali forces in effort to defeat and degrade the Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab
This is the second operation conducted by the joint forces this year in the same vicinity of Lower Shabelle, Somalia.
