U.S. and Egypt will be fighting the ills of terrorists together, U.S. President Donald Trump assured Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Monday.
President Trump has moved to reset the relation between U.S. and Egypt after a strained ties during Obama’s administration.
In a joint Communiqué, the two leaders agreed on the importance of advancing peace throughout the Middle East, including in Libya, Syria, and Yemen. Trump also expressed interest in supporting Israel and the Palestinians in moving toward peace.
The two leaders held talks in oval office during Sisi’s first official visit since being elected president in 2014. Trump's predecessor, Barack Obama, never extended an invitation.
