U.S. in support of the Federal Government of Somalia continue to annihilate and degrade Al-Shabaab in serious of airstrikes against the Al-Qaeda branch in the horn of Africa nation.
In the latest airstrike conducted in the vicinity of Jamaame, Lower Juba Region of Somalia on April 19, 2019, U.S. confirmed to have killed at least two Al-Shabaab operatives.
Two years ago, the Al-Qaeda branch in Somalia had maintained high level of movement and presence in the Lower Juba River valley, near Kismayo, terrorizing and displacing residents. Today U.S. and allied partner forces have weakened and disrupted the extremist group, pushing them away from the river valley.
The allied partner forces have created Forward Operating Bases-FOB, (combat outposts) in order to ensure our partners can hold the territory they have successfully retaken.
The Federal Government of Somalia and partner forces continue to make incursions into territory formerly controlled by Al-Shabaab extremist group.
