A young suicide bomber and a local vigilante lost their lives in a foiled suicide bomb attack in Dalori Quarters in Maiduguri Borno state north-east Nigeria.
The attack that happened on Tuesday morning killed the suicide bomber and male security guard who prevented the young suicide bomber from gaining access to the Mosque.
Police gathered that the suicide bomber mission was to attack a Mosque during the moring prayer.
“The bomber did not succeed in the attempt. As you can see, the bomber tried to enter the mosque but unfortunately, one of our security stopped her. The explosion killed the suicide bomber and one of our men,” said Bello Dan Batta, Representative of Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
According to one of the worshippers in the mosque, the child suicide bomber detonated the bomb when the security guard overpowered her.
On December 28, 2016, 20 people were killed in an attack in Buraburin area of Maiduguri while another four were killed two weeks ago at a mosque in the University of Maiduguri staff quarters.
