Two people on Saturday evening were injured in a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on Latema Road – Tom Mboya intersection in Nairobi.
Preliminary police reports indicate that a mid-aged man had procured the service of a cart-puller to carry an identified package in a box across the city.
The reports further indicate that the two walked together up-to Latema Road – Tom Mboya intersection when the owner of the package claimed to have forgotten his identity card at a shop nearby and thus he excused himself to go and get it.
The suspected improvised explosive device went off moments later with shrapnel hurting the cart-puller on the arm and injuring a newspaper vendor on the right leg. Both suffered slight injuries.
Police swiftly secured the scene and are following leads for the arrest of the mystery man.
Citizens urged to remain vigilant especially in crowded places.
