Details of over 40 people from Morocco and Syria have been released by Turkish police on suspicion of trying to join ISIL extremist group.
Turkish police released the details of the foreign nationals who have been detained in Istanbul on Thursday 5th November 2015 on suspicion they wanted to reach ISIL terrorist organization.
According to Istanbul Security Directorate of Counterterrorism and Intelligence Branch, its officers detained over 40 Moroccans and a Syrian nationals who arrived at the city’s Ataturk Airport from Casablanca on Wednesday 4th November 2015.
The suspects after being arrested were taken in custody where they were interrogated at the airport. According to the police debrief, many of those held claimed they were headed to the troubled Syria’s conflict zones to join ISIL terrorist group.
Twenty of the suspects were deported and the remaining suspects were scheduled to leave Turkey on Friday 6th November 2015.
