Turkish authorities have announced that they captured the older sister of slain ISIS leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi in a raid in northwestern Syria. The 65-year old sister, known as Rasmiya Awad was detained with her husband, daughter-in-law and five children in a trailer container she was living in near the town of Azaz in Aleppo province.
The capture is very significant as the woman can over priceless intelligence on the in-workings of ISIS that might prove quite critical in defeating ISIS that has proven quite elusive. The arrest comes just a few days since the deaths of ISIS’ leaders and spokesman as well as the appointment of a new leader for the global terror organization.
Intelligence reports indicate that despite ISIS’ leadership seeming under siege, it is important to note that the group still remains a major threat across the globe as it has a very heavy presence online as well as a significant presence in Asia and Africa attributed to its numerous affiliates.
