Somali National Army (SNA) has revealed that they killed a fundamental figure within the al Shabaab terror organization in the Wallanweyn district in Lower Shabelle region. The terrorist has been identified as Mohamed Osman Hussein Bulush and was a senior explosives expert within the al Shabaab ranks.
Intelligence reports revealed that Bulush had in late December 2019 replaced the former al Shabaab bomb expert Mohamed Sidow who was killed in an airstrike in El Barrow village.
The Lower Shabelle region has seen increased fighting between the Somali National Army and Al-Shabaab fighters. Additionally, the killing of Bulush sets the terror organization back seeing as two bomb-makers have been killed in less than two months a move that might affect the group’s attacks especially in Lower Shabelle. Al Shabaab has consistently used explosives as one of their major attack tactics and as such the elimination of the two high-level experts might stall attacks in the region.
