Three suspected Al-Shabaab suicide bombers travelling in a three-wheeler auto-rickshaw in the vicinity of Galkayo town of central Somalia were killed in their own explosion on Tuesday evening.
Initial reports indicate that the occupants of the rickshaw failed to stop at a police checkpoint upon be signaled to do so. Police fired at them; the rickshaw driver reportedly detonated his explosives near Wadajir neighbourhood near the Ambas Hotel in Galmudug which possibly was their target.
Police say there were no other casualties or injuries and there has not been any claim of responsibility. But such signature suicide missions are synonymous to the Al-Qaeda aligned Al-Shabaab.
