The United State has donated two military aircrafts to assist in the fight against Boko Haram militants that have crossed the border from Nigeria. It adds to armored vehicles, U.S.-led training on landmine detection and the presence of U.S. Marines in the country.
The C208 are specialized in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance are built in with cameras that capture images on the ground up to 10km away. The US trained the pilots and other essential crew members before handing over the planes in what is being termed as continued military cooperation in eliminating Boko Haram.
The United States has been supporting Cameroon in its fight against Boko Haram. In 2015, it handed a consignment of U.S. military equipment to Central African nations that deployed a regional military force to counter Boko Haram’s insurgency in Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, and Chad.
