The Tanzanian Air Force seems to have taken order of the first of two H225 helicopters from Airbus Helicopters.
According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), Tanzania ordered two H215 Cougar and two H225 Super Cougar helicopters in 2017.
An H225 in Tanzania Air Force markings was spotted flying through Valencia, Spain, on 6 September and Faro, Portugal on 7 September.
The transport helicopter was spotted at Gran Canaria the following day. However, some sources have reported that it was returned to the factory and will be delivered to a private operator in Tanzania. Airbus Helicopters could not provide additional information.
The helicopter seen last month was wearing the test registration F-WWOT with the serial 5H-TAF taped over, had ‘Tanzania Air Force’ clearly written on the tail boom.
