A T-6 Texan trainer aircraft from Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph crashed earlier in the week with officials confirming that the crew managed to eject safely though sustained minor injuries.
Two spokespersons for Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph confirmed that the T-6 was assigned to the 12th Flying Training Wing at the base and that the pilot and the student safely ejected roughly 30 miles from the base near Rolling Oaks Mall.
Members from the base’s fire and safety units from the 12th Flying Training Wing swiftly responded to the incident alongside and local responders.
The crash follows that of another trainer in Texas just last week. A T-38C Talon II from Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, crashed right after takeoff September 11, 2018 similarly in which the two pilots from 80th Flying Training Wing ejected safely. Both pilots were deemed stable. The two crash remains under investigation by the Air Force.
