11th December 2015, United States has warned its citizens, urged them to be vigilant after Switzerland issued a terror alert over a possible attack in Geneva.
Friday, U.S. officials warned Americans living in or visiting Switzerland to be extra vigilant following a CIA tip-off prompting the country to raise its terrorism threat level.
Swiss officials said they had received intelligence of a possible terrorist attack planned on the city of Geneva.
The officials also revealed that the country’s security organs are hunting down suspects linked to terrorist groups including Al Qaeda and ISIS.
The U.S. Embassy in Bern issued a statement advising Americans of steps they should take.
“In this time of elevated threat, the U.S. Embassy in Bern reminds U.S. citizens to review personal security plans, remain aware of surroundings at all times, and monitor local news stations for updates,” the statement read.
A senior U.S. counter-terrorism official while addressing reporters told them that the CIA tipped off the Swiss authorities about the potential threat.
Following the Paris attack on November 13 that saw 130 people killed and scores injured has left Europe in a state of tension as Islamist jihadist groups continues to issue threat to attack U.S. and European countries.
The Kenya Somalia boarder hasn’t been done because Somalia wasn’t consulted. I wonder don’t each country have beacons as it’s territory.
